![]() ![]() ![]() To my chagrin they don't have those at this fair. I wanted to see home craft judging/exhibits such as homemade jams, jellies, produce, etc. We watched some goat judging, but were bored as there were three goats total and you couldn't hear anything anyway. The plants looked tired and small for the most part, plus the produce I did see was wasted and allowed to grow past their prime. Whoever grows the veggies needs to learn how to grow lush healthy plants. I really wanted to see the farm as I love to garden. It was cooler early on, but it got hot fast and so at that point we went to the inside exhibits. This year we decided to take our granddaughter, go early and hopefully avoid the heat. I've lived here for 15 years and haven't gone to the fair due to the hot weather we always have here in the summer. We parked quite close to the entrance, and experienced very little waiting for anything. This year, we went early on a Sunday afternoon, around 4pm. Don't do that unless you like to wait in a lot of lines, park far away, and be among a huge crowd of people. Last year, we came on a Saturday night close to Christmas around 7pm. This is our second experience with Global Winter Wonderland and we've learned what not to do and how to enjoy the experience more. Prices are a little higher than what one would normally find outside on the street. But there is also an international section towards the back in the warehouse which features Greek, Chinese, Thai, and Mexican cuisine. The food is standard fare, hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, BBQ, popcorn, cotton candy. But one can ride a much nicer carousel (with safety belts) at nearby Arden Fair Shopping Mall for $3 (and the ride is longer too). ![]() And this is an older carousel with no belts for the children. For example, a ride on the carousel costs 4 scripts, or $5. However, for her to go on the rides with us, we had to pay the normal fare, which is quite expensive. I bought a package deal through LivingSocial which for $52, gave us 2 admission tickets plus 2 unlimited ride bands. There were also the requisite Christmas displays like a large Christmas tree, Santa, Snowmen, Nutcrackers, reindeer and sled, elves and more. This year, there seemed to be a Fantasy/Nautical theme, with mermaids, mushroom forests, sunken ships, and marine creatures. Last year, it was an international theme, featuring landmarks from all over the world like the Eiffel Tower, London Bridge, the Great Wall, the White House, and so on. They seem to rotate the type of exhibits or change the theme every year. The light displays are quite impressive and enjoyable to look at.
